What We Do
As a network of scholars, our members include academics who are experts in antisemitism, the history of Israel, Zionism and Jewish identity as a whole. We offer evidence-based scholarly expertise on campuses to our members, to students, and to administrators. As a non-partisan educational organization, NECA is not an advocacy group. A plurality of voices is the strongest antidote to the polarization we are seeing on our campuses and in Canadian society.
Faculty play a critical role on our campuses. NECA offers support to faculty in the form of consultations so they can combat antisemitism whether it occurs in public spaces, to students who are seeking help, from colleagues, from administrators, or from faculty unions. NECA works to improve the campus climate by bringing together faculty to provide knowledge and academic expertise to offer constructive feedback to campus leaders and stakeholders, and by conducting fact-based educational activities beyond and within our campuses, including public speaking, writing, mentoring students in distress, hosting campus programs and expanding our understanding of the complex history of antisemitism.
Faculty supporting students:
Professors have an important role as respected members of the campus in ensuring that students are being treated fairly and not facing discrimination. NECA’s support of faculty members at their local universities translates into support for those who are most vulnerable to the scourges of antisemitism, our students. The University does not exist without students and the experience that students have on our campuses during their formative years are critical to launch them toward their careers.
